Blogging has replaced websites as the best
method to communicate marketing messages to the widest
audiences on the internet. It does not require knowledge of
html and you can have a blog up and running in a matter of
minutes. Blogs now rank much higher in search engines –
largely because they have fresh content – in contrast to
traditional websites whose content is to a large degree
static.
Proof of the significance of blogs is the
recent acquisition of Blogger by Google. Blogger is by far
the largest blogging site on the internet and Google
acquired Blogger to complement its acquisition of Youtube –
the most popular video sharing site on the internet. It
would not be surprising if Google found itself in the same
hot water as did Microsoft for breaching Anti-trust
legislation. But that is another story.
